Salem
The Salem Ferry docks at the Blaney Street Wharf. In the Salem area, simply follow the trailblazing signs to our free parking lot and Terminal building. Blaney Street is located just outside Salem Center off Derby Street.

Boston
The Salem Ferry lands at Long Wharf North, steps from the New England Aquarium. Located right in the heart of downtown, our dock is only steps away from the shops and restaurants of Faneuil Hall and the Italian style of the North End.

Salem Skipper, Ride Sharing Service

Traffic to Salem is expected to be significant during the month of October, particularly on weekends. Generally, motorists travel to Salem via Route 114 East. We would strongly discourage your using this route. Instead, you are advised to take alternate routes to Salem in order to minimize travel time. Please note all exit numbers referenced below are old ...GPS has been updated accurately. Main routes are still accurate.

From Points West & South (MassPike & Ted Willilams Tunnel)
From / To Route 90 / MassPike:
• To Salem:   Continue on I-90/Masspike East and take Exit 25 (South Boston) and follow signs to rejoin I-90 East to Logan Airport/1A. Follow Route 1A all the way into Salem.
• From Salem:  Take Route 1A South to the Ted Williams Tunnel. From the tunnel take Exit 25 to South Boston surface streets. Take a left on Congress Street, left on West Service Road and right onto the South Boston Bypass Road.  Take a right onto northbound Frontage Road to the I-90 West on-ramp.

From/To Points South:
• To Salem:  Take Route 93 North Exit 18 (Mass Avenue/Frontage Road) and go to the far right lane.   At the second traffic signal, take a right onto the South Boston Bypass Road and follow signs to access the Ted Williams Tunnel and I-90 East/Logan Airport. From the Williams Tunnel, take Route 1A North. Follow Route 1A all the way into Salem.
• From Salem:    Take Route 1A South to the Ted Williams Tunnel. From the tunnel take Exit 25 to South Boston surface streets. Take a left on Congress Street, left on West Service Road and right onto the South Boston Bypass Road.  Take a left onto southbound Frontage Road to the I-93 South on-ramp.

Train & Bus:
Train service is available on the Newburyport/Rockport Commuter Rail Line from Boston's North Station. At the Salem Depot, exit up the stairs. It is a five-minute walk to the Visitor Center. Bus service is available on bus #450 or #455 from Boston's Haymarket Square. For train and bus information, contact the MBTA for more information at (800) 392-6100 or www.mbta.com. It takes approximately 30 minutes to travel between Salem and Boston by train, and one hour by bus.

2019-2020 Increased Train Service:
The MBTA Commuter Rail is pleased to provide increased train service to and from the annual Haunted Happenings celebration in Salem, Massachusetts. Special Event round trip tickets for the extra trains to and from Salem, MA will be available at North Station and will be sold on the extra trains. Schedules of the extra trains are displayed below.

Roads Closed - Motorcycle Run
Harley-Davidson Annual Halloween Witch Ride to Salem to Benefit Muscular Dystrophy
This year, the motorcycle parade will take place on Sunday, October xx at approx: 1:30-3:00 PM (Rain / Snow Date xx) Thousands of costumed bikers will once again storm through the city to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association this weekend. Anywhere between 4,000 and 10,000 motorcyclists are expected to take part in the annual Halloween Witch Ride, which leaves from Boston Harley-Davidson in Everett and ends at Shetland Park in Salem. The seemingly endless procession of riders should make its way into Salem between 1:30 - 2:30 pm The route takes them up Lafayette Street, where they'll turn right on Derby Street and right onto Congress Street before pulling into the Shetland Park lot. As a result, police will close the roads starting around 1:00 p.m.

The following streets will be closed to vehicle traffic roughly at 5:00PM, (could be sooner, depending on crowd volume)* on October 31, 2019:
Ø  Washington Street closed from New Derby Street to Bridge Street
Ø  Essex Street closed from Barton Square to Union Street
Ø  Derby Street closed between Lafayette Street and Congress Street
Ø  Brown Street closed at New Liberty Street and at Howard Street
Ø  Lafayette Street closed between Derby Street and Front Street
Ø  Hawthorne Boulevard closed from Derby Street to Essex Street
Ø  Washington Sq. West and Washington Sq. South closed
Ø  Washington Sq. North closed from Winter Street to Brown Street (Route 1A)
Ø  Winter Street closed at Bridge Street
Ø  Williams Street closed at Bridge Street

Additional Street closings during finale concert & fireworks at 10:00PM:
Ø  Washington Street closes to traffic
Ø  Bridge Street closes to traffic between the westerly overpass ramps and the Bypass Road
Ø  Franklin Street closes to traffic between North Street and Orchard Street
Ø  Incoming northbound Bridge Street traffic will be diverted up the westerly ramps to North Street.  The Bypass Road inbound traffic from Beverly will be diverted back to Bridge Street and back towards Beverly.  Incoming southbound traffic from Bridge Street will be detoured to the Bypass road and back to Beverly.
